Lab testing
Tested for GI, beta-glucan content, fibre, and microbiological safety.
Why this product
Highest fibre in our range.
At 15g of fibre per 100g, jau atta has more fibre than any other product on our shelf. Beta-glucan slows glucose absorption naturally.
Soft, earthy, satisfying.
Jau roti has a gentle nutty flavour and softer bite than wheat. Comforting in a way that doesn't taste like 'diet food'.
Centuries-old grain.
Barley has been grown in Indian kitchens for over 4,000 years. We are not reinventing — we are returning.
Frequently asked
Does jau atta need to be mixed with wheat?
+Not necessarily. Pure jau roti is workable but slightly denser. Many customers prefer a 70:30 jau-to-wheat mix for everyday use.
What is beta-glucan?
+Beta-glucan is a type of soluble fibre found in barley and oats. It forms a gel in the gut that slows glucose absorption — one of the reasons jau sits so low on the glycaemic index.
Is jau atta gluten-free?
+No. Barley contains gluten. For a gluten-free low-GI option, see our Jowar Atta.
How does this compare to oats?
+Jau and oats both contain beta-glucan. Jau atta works directly in Indian roti-based cooking, while oats are typically used in porridge. Both are excellent low-GI choices.
